Steve Jobs and Fred Shuttlesworth both died today. One devoted his life to making expensive, nifty, and useful machines. The other fought for civil rights and racial and economic justice, risking his life in the process.
Yet there are seemingly zillions of “omg :(” and “this is a terrible tragedy, our generation has lost a leader” type posts about Steve Jobs, but close to nothing mourning the death of or celebrating the life and achievements of Fred Shuttlesworth.
Think about that.
Gonna check The Dispatch (Columbus, OH) tomorrow since he was a pastor in Cinci. Gonna raise hell if all they wanna talk about is Steve Jobs.
